Also submit email address plus phone numbers you wish to use for ladder notifications. Include your ranking to the best of your knowledge. It would also benefit other players wishing to challenge you to select what days and times you prefer to play. Include your APM membesip number if you are a member.
- Supply a recent photo to be used on the rooster, head shot preferred, email photo to; LADDER MANAGER.
- The list will be internet based and all notifications to the list manager must be by email to; LADDER MANAGER. Any person without internet access and/or email will need to make arrangements with someone who does to participate. No exceptions.
- Maintain current membership in the City Park Tennis Club.
- Until further notice you can challenge any player on the ladder. As the list progresses this will change and you will only be able to challenge a yet to be determined number of players above your name.
- The challenge will be 2 sets to 6 games with a 3rd 10 point tie break set if needed as discribed below. It doesn’t matter if the win is 2 straight or by a tie breaker, just who won.
- a) Set Tie Break: First to win 7 points by 2 points wins “Game “ and “Set”
- b) 3rd set Match Tie Break: First to win 10 points by 2, wins match.
- c) The player whose turn it is to serve shall serve the first point from the deuce court.
- d) After the first point, the players shall change ends and the following two points shall be served by the opponent starting from the add court.
- e) After this, each player/team shall serve alternately for two consecutive points (starting from the ad court); changing ends after every four points, until the end of the tie break game.
- f) Switch sides after points 1,5,9,13,17..…. and at the conclusion.
- It will be the responsibility of the challenger to notify the list manager of a challenge and must include the name of both players plus the date and time agreed upon for the challenge.
- Any player not listed on the CPTC ROOSTER but is a APM member must submit their APM MEMBERSHIP NUMBER for varification.
- An application must be submitted and accepted for membership by any player not discribed in #1 above before participation in the ladder will be allowed.
- The challenger is responsible for reserving a court for the match. If one or both players are not “Annual Pass” members the challenger is responsible for court fees. It is preferred but the challenge does not have to be played at City Park Tennis Center.
- The challenger must notify the list manager the results of the challenge within 24 hours after the match is completed.
- If the list manager does not receive the results within the 24 hours of the scheduled challenge, a loss for the challenger will be recorded and posted accordingly.
- NOTE: It is the responsibility of the challenger to notify the list manager in the event the challenge had to be cancelled and/or rescheduled for any reason as soon as possible to avoid a loss being recorded. Once a win/loss is posted it will not be changed.
The ladder will operate on an ELO system:
The "ELO" rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games originally designed for chess. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-born American physics professor. It has since been adapted to other two player activities and which I have adapted to use with racquetball and subsequently tennis. Once the system has been in use for a period of time it is designed to reflect the actual playing level of the members on the ladder. When the results of a match are entered into the program a formula adds or subtracts points from each player considering their ELO scores before the match and adjusts their position on the ladder accordingly. Each player's listed skill level, 3.0, 3.5 ect, will remain the same, just the ELO score will change.
