CITY PARK TENNIS CLUB
The City Park Tennis Club was founded in 1928 by a group of men who played tennis at City Park and who decided to approach the City Park Board of Directors about leasing three courts for club use. The board approved and the club was officially organized. The late Bill Macassin was elected the first president.
The oldest living member is Wally LaGarde at 92 years old.
Over the years, the Club has played on three different surfaces, starting on tan colored clay, red brick dust and the present green rubico. The rubico seems to be the favorite surface of the members.
The annual meeting for City Park Tennis Club will hold it's annual meeting on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at the Imperial Room (Five Happiness) on Carrollton Avenue, cash bar 6:00 - 7:00. There is a $10 charge to cover a partial cost of the meal.
The board is asking all members who are interested in being a board member for the upcoming year (April - March) to submit their name to be placed on the ballot when we hold our annual meeting.
The board is also seeking nominations for the sportman's trophy. Eligible candidates cannot be a previous recipient or board member.
Please submit all nominations via email to Jim Romig at: cptcno@gmail.com.
