UPDATE ON NEW TENNIS FACILITY:

Subject:: New Tennis Facility
We took a bid for the new tennis facility on June 10th. Unfortunately it was for more than we have funds for ($4.2 million against our available funding of $3.8 million). Therefore we rejected the bid and will do some redesign and packaging which our consultants believe will reduce the bid down to our available funds without damaging the project. We will also try and put in some alternates which will give us flexibility to accept a main bid but potentially do some items later on if the bid still comes in high. We expect the project to go back on the street in a couple of weeks and have a new bid in about six weeks. With any luck we will begin construction in August.

Game, Set, Match: New Tennis Complex at City Park is a Go
The State of Louisiana has released $3.3 million in funds for the construction of a new Tennis Complex at City Park. Construction documents for the complex have been completed and Park officials expect to put the project out to bid in the next few weeks. Construction could begin as soon as July and is expected to last for 12 months.
The new tennis complex will feature 26 courts; 16 hard and 10 clay and will be located in Marconi Meadows just north of Popp’s Fountain. Once the new clubhouse and tennis courts are completed, the existing courts will be closed and demolished to make way for continued improvements at the Park’s Tri-Centennial Place.
City Park CEO, Bob Becker said “We want to thank the Jindal administration for releasing the funds for the Tennis Complex. Tennis enthusiasts who call City Park home will soon be playing at the best courts in the metro area.
